2008-2009 Record: 14-7 (Western New England Class "B" Quarterfinalist)
2007-2008 Record: 12-6 2006-2007 Record: 7-12 2005-2006 Record: 7-12 2004-2005 Record: 9-8 2003-2004 Record: 3-15 2002-2003 Record: 11-7 2001-2002 Record: 12-8 6-time New England Class B Champions (1978, 1981, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1992) The boys' varsity basketball program looks to improve on a 14-7 campaign in the 2008-09 Season, which ended with a final ranking of 4th in Western New England. This years' team will feature returning team MVP, Senior Xavier Pollard (Bronx, NY), who is currently ranked among the top 200 players nationally at his position according to ESPN.com. Along with Pollard, post-graduates Allen Harris (Boston, MA), and Nate Vernon (Chapel Hill, NC) will be looked to for leadership throughout the tough play of the NEPSAC. Harris wrapped up his career at Catholic Memorial where he led the Knights deep into the state playoffs each of his final three seasons, including a state championship in his sophomore year. Harris scored over 1000 points for his career. Vernon is a scorer, racking up over 1500 points for his career at Carolina Friends School. In his final season at CFS, Vernon was named to the 2A NCISSA All State Team. This season will be highlighted by games against Regional and National Powers, Worcester Academy, Cushing, Wilbraham Monson, Marianapolis, Loomis Chaffee, Choate, Deerfield, St. Andrews, Salisbury, and Avon Old Farms. The Tigers will travel for three in season invitationals. In early December, the Orange and Black will play two games in the Hoop Mountain Invitational at Marianapolis, later in the month, they will participate in the Bob Southall Holiday Tournament at Loomis Chaffee, and in February the team has been invited to play in the National Prep School Invitational at the University of Rhode Island. Each of these tournaments will feature some of the top Prep Programs and players in the Country. Suffield Academy players have gone on to play at Amherst, Babson, Bentley, Bucknell, Clark, Delaware, Gannon, Lafayette, Maine, Mercyhurst, Middlebury, North Carolina State, Providence, Skidmore, Springfield, St. Anslem, St. Johns, Stetson, Stonehill, Wesleyan, Wheaton, Wofford, along with other colleges and universities. Vinny Del Negro '84 played 12 seasons in the NBA with 5 different teams (Sacramento, San Antonio, Milwaukee, Golden State, and Phoenix). In June of 2008, Del Negro was named the Head Coach for the Chicago Bulls.
