Science Teacher
Ten-month Academic Year Appointment

The ideal candidate is someone with a background in physics and engineering or the ability to teach a section or two of chemistry in addition to physics.

The following components are required parts of this position:

  • Teach sections of physics and potentially chemistry or engineering totaling approximately 50-60 students
  • Implement and/or develop engaging hands-on curriculum to use in our combined classroom/lab spaces
  • Create a nurturing learning environment that encourages students to tackle challenging science problems with confidence and resilience
  • Provide formal assessments with grades and detailed comments six times per year
  • Attend faculty meetings
  • Maintain prompt communication with all constituencies, replying to students, parents, or colleagues within 24 hours

Additional Expectations for full-time faculty members:

  • Being involved in dormitory or other evening coverage
  • Serving as an advisor to approximately five to eight students
  • Coaching two seasons or covering an approved equivalent activity
