Schedule
Suffield's junior varsity athletics teams welcome students of all ability levels to experience the excitement and challenge of interscholastic engagement. The goals at this level of sport are focused on amplifying transferable skills, such as teamwork and communication, exposing students to new and different extracurricular opportunities, and enhancing both personal and social growth through participation in team-based competition.
Results & Recap
The JV Girls opened their season with an away match at Williston on Saturday, April 6. It was a chilly gray day, and the mountains in the distance were snowcapped. Spring had not yet arrived. While we lost the match overall, it was close, and each game was well played.
The girls got off the bus with a great attitude, ready to play their best. The matches were close, and many of the games went to deuce. The girls worked hard and played with intensity.
Match of the day was awarded to Ava and Elizabeth. They played long points to get them to a tie score of 8-8. The tiebreak was incredibly close as well. While they lost, the score does not reflect the hard-earned points throughout the match.

The JV Girls ventured to Miss Porter’s during the eclipse on Monday. With a few pairs of eclipse glasses on the bus to view the eclipse during the ride, the girls were excited to meet the Miss Porter’s team. The weather was perfect for a tennis match.
After a quick warmup, the girls got right to work. While we lost the match, I was proud of their hard work against a talented Miss Porter’s team.
The match of the day was awarded to Sophia and Diana. They played an even match with their opponents and found themselves playing a tiebreaker. With the games tied at 8 games each, Sophia and Diana played a close tiebreaker. While they eventually lost the tiebreaker 7-9, they fought to the very last point. They should feel incredibly proud of every point played.
We are excited to host Wilbraham on Wednesday for our first home match.
