The defense, led by Ryan Haines ’25, Gavin Bear ’26, Nicholas Warren ’26, and Edward Grace ’25, stood firm, allowing only one goal from the opposition. With this balanced team effort on both ends of the field, the Tigers finished the game strong. It was also good that we were able to play everyone today.
The team now sets its sights on their next match-up against Deerfield Academy on Wednesday, 9/18/24. Thank you to all the family and friends for your continued support. Go Tigers!
Defensively, Suffield was solid with standout performances from Ryan Haines ’25, Eddie Grace ’25, Gavin Bear ’26, and Nicholas Warren ’26, however, an unlucky bounce from a free kick allowed Deerfield to equalize at the end of the first half, making it 1-1.
As the physicality of the game persisted, Michael Adu ‘26 stepped up once more, confidently scoring his second goal of the game to extend the Tigers’ lead to 3-1. A well-rounded team effort saw contributions from Stone Visconte ’26 and Robert Holcomb ’26, as Suffield closed out the game with strong performances across the board.
The match kicked off with Suffield quickly establishing their strength. In the 19th minute, Brayden Marra ’26 opened the scoring, finding the back of the net with a clinical finish, assisted by Michael Adu ’26. The Tigers maintained pressure throughout the half, adding a second goal in the 40th minute when Gavin Bear ’26 converted a pass from Daniel Martin ’26. At the break, Suffield held a solid 2-0 lead.
The Tigers’ defense, anchored by Ryan Haines ’25, Eddie Grace ’25, Gavin Bear ’26, and Nicolas Warren ’26, was unpenetrable. Their efforts ensured that Christophe Coossa ‘25 secured another clean sheet, as Suffield’s backline thwarted every attack from Greenwich Country Day.
With this resounding win, the Tigers shift their focus to their upcoming match on Sunday, September 22nd, 2024, when they will face Hoosac School away in the NXT LVL Showcase. Thanks to all the family and friends for their unwavering support. Go Tigers!
On September 28th, the Suffield Academy Tigers hosted the Hotchkiss School at Shay Field. The Tigers came out strong, securing a decisive 4-0 victory and continuing their impressive winning streak.
The match started with high intensity, as Suffield’s offense immediately put Hotchkiss on the back foot. In the 13th minute, Michael Adu Gyamfi ‘26 opened the scoring with a well-placed shot, assisted by Brayden Marta ‘26. Just two minutes later, Daniel Martin ‘26 doubled the lead with a quick strike, assisted by Nile Bean ‘26. The Tigers’ relentless pressure paid off again in the 23rd minute when Ayden St. Martin ‘26 found the back of the net, following a clever setup by Ayden Gardner ‘25, pushing the score to 3-0.
In the second half, Suffield Academy contained possession, skillfully limiting Hotchkiss’s chances and setting the pace of the game. The Tigers finalized the match in the 79th minute, when Brayden Marta ‘26 netted the final goal of the day, assisted by Michael Adu-Gyamfi ‘26.

Team Overview
Suffield has been a perennially strong team in the Western New England Prep School Soccer Association [WNEPSSA], a league of over fifty schools, winning five New England Championships. As a founding member of WNEPSSA we play against league members such as Choate Rosemary Hall, Loomis Chaffee, Hotchkiss, Taft, and Northfield Mount Hermon. Recent graduates of Suffield are now playing soccer at several NCAA programs.
