Exhibition Singles
Westminster’s line-up arrived with consistent groundstrokes and powerful serves and volleys. Match shout-out goes to Will Gaulin who played with heart and strategy for nearly three hours, the longest match of the day! Though losing 4-6, 4-6, he and his opponent played so many close and long points. Another bright moment in today's abundant sunshine was the doubles play of Andrew Mack and Owen Tulley, who won their exhibition match. Top singles players adjusted to the depth and consistency of Westminster's line-up and produced in the latter games of their matches more groundstroke replies and some approaches to the net. Noah Losen also played for over two and a half hours. Eric McCormick led his opponent with a strong 5-3 lead, and then he responded well when his opponent stormed back to 6-5. Eric then excelled and finished with a strong 8-6 win. We now look forward to traveling to Cheshire on Wednesday.

Team Overview
Coach Yuan’s philosophy places strong emphases on competing, teamwork, developing a complete game, and above all sportsmanship.
Coach Yuan’s approach focuses on improving physical and mental aspects of both singles and doubles play. Drills involve hand and live ball feeding and repetition and are completed with high-energy and focus.
The Suffield Varsity Tennis team has historically trained with top-ranked USTA players, international standouts, and recreational players who have had some formal coaching. Our demanding schedule regularly matches us up against some of the strongest teams in the WNEPSA. We have made it to the New England tournament twice in the last ten years. Coach Yuan ’05 was a four-year member of the Suffield Academy Boys’ Varsity Tennis team and went on to play D3 at Grinnell College in Iowa. Over the last few years, the Suffield squad has worked with students who have gone on to be major contributors to Division I, and strong Division II and III programs including Loyola Maryland, Williams, Union, Franklin and Marshall, and Bentley.
