Suffield was able continue its win streak (2-0) against a strong Wilbraham team at home on Saturday. Due to the erratic cold and rain, singles matches took place first in order to ascertain a definitive result sooner rather than later.
Hayden Rowley bounced back at the number #1 position winning 6-4 6-3 playing his best tennis of the season. Hayden was able to maintain a strong level throughout the match– relentlessly hitting heavy topspin forehands and backhands.
Joseph likewise played his best tennis of the season and demonstrated a more complete offensive and defensive effort compared to his last match.
Christophe was able to frustrate his opponent with his tricky ball placement and lightning reflexes at the net.
Joaquin Vargas Deandar gained more and more confidence during his match– increasing the weight of his heavy topspin forehand to drive his opponent around the court.
Sam Longley at the #4 position battled back from a set down before ultimately falling to a talented opponent 9-11 in a third set tiebreak.
In Exhibition singles, MN Mayalarp, Noah Losen, and Finn O’Keefe were able to sweep through their matches demonstrating the depth of this years squad.
With the match wrapped up 4-2, the decision was made to let #1 singles Hayden Rowley rest in doubles and try out a Noah and MN at the 2nd doubles position. While we lost tight matches at the #1 and #2 doubles, roommates Juaquin and Christophe won a fun match at the third doubles position.
Next up: Monday, 4/15 @ Westminster.

Coach Yuan ’05 was a four-year member of the Suffield Academy Boys’ Varsity Tennis team and went on to play D3 at Grinnell College in Iowa. Over the last few years, the Suffield squad has worked with students who have gone on to be major contributors to Division I, and strong Division II and III programs including Loyola Maryland, Williams, Union, Franklin and Marshall, and Bentley.
