Team Overview
The main philosophy of the field hockey team is to develop well-rounded student-athletes, who are able to excel in all aspects of school life. Our athletes are hard-working, and strive to push themselves to play to the best of their ability in every practice and game. With an experienced coaching staff, great leadership, and many new faces, the Suffield Academy field hockey team is looking to continue to maintain a strong program and return to the New England tournament.
Suffield earned the WNEPSA Class B title in 2006, 2009, and 2017, reaching the New England Class B championship in 2006 and the New England Class B semifinals in 2017, ending the season with an impressive 18-1 record. Many players from Suffield continue their careers in college. Graduates have played or are currently playing at the following institutions: Merrimack, Trinity, Babson, Bentley, Fairfield University, Johns Hopkins University, Springfield College, Union, the University of Vermont, Northwestern University, Wheaton, and Williams.
Suffield plays a very competitive schedule against some of the top A, B, and C schools in our conference, competing to make New England’s each season. Our program caters to all athletes from those who are newer to the sport, to those trying to play in college, and everything in between. We focus strongly on player and team development, which consists of focusing on athletic skills as well as communication and other important life skills. I look for athletes who are hard workers and good teammates who will help the program continue to thrive.
