Suffield traveled to Millbrook for our season opener. The Tigers enjoyed the scenic bus ride and came out of the gates strong, playing aggressive defense and extra pass offense. The Tigers led 12-2 after one quarter. The second quarter was much different as the Mustangs settled down. Our offense started to rush shots which allowed Millbrook to get into an offensive groove--at half time the score was 21-14. The 3rd quarter was a foul fest as 24 free throws were shot by both teams which really slowed down the momentum of the game. The beginning of the 4th quarter, Suffield began to flex its muscles and went on a 16-2 run to put the game away. It was a strong opener for Suffield as it got a solid win on the road against a good team. Final score, 55-36.
Girls Varsity Basketball had our home opener today on Kinne Court against Greens Farm Academy. The Tigers played a solid 1st quarter and led 16-13. Greens Farm shot the ball exceptionally well in the 2nd quarter and took a 30-24 lead into halftime. A big shot in our first possession of the 2nd half started the Tiger comeback as we played great defense and held GFA to 1 point in the 3rd quarter and 13 for the second half enroute to a big 51-43 victory.
Suffield traveled to rival Williston to take on the Wildcats. The Tigers jumped out to a big lead after the first quarter 21-6. In typical Williston fashion, they didn't quit and outscored the Tigers in the 2nd and 3rd quarter cutting the lead to 46-37. The Tiger defense stepped up in the 4th quarter and held Williston to 10 points enroute to a 63-47 win. Everybody saw action in a big team win.
With very little rest, SA traveled to the Berkshire to play in the prestigious Rose Classic Prep Jam. Their opponent was New Hampshire's Proctor Academy. The Tigers wasted little time and came out of the gates on fire making five 3's in 1st quarter to lead 21-5. SA defense took over in the 2nd quarter shutting out Proctor and taking a 33-5 lead into the halftime locker room. The 2nd half was back and forth as everyone saw significant minutes as the Tigers roared to a 58-22 win. Ania McMichael took home MVP honors, Gianna Strange won the Sportsmanship Award and Norah Wright earned the Scholar Athlete Award. Suffield would like to thank the Rose Classic organizers and staff for a first-class event.

Team Overview
The coaching staff is committed to inspiring our young female players to become their very best on the court, in the classroom, and in life.
We expect our girls to function as one unit. Working together, supporting each other, and placing the well-being of the group ahead of self-interests are some of the values we hope to instill in every player. As a team we may face opponents with more talent but we will never be out-hustled. We always strive to give 100%. We push ourselves every day to improve the quality of our play, mental toughness, and physical condition. Our girls represent hard work, unity, and heart through all of their interactions on and off the court.
The Suffield Academy women’s basketball program has a rich history of success, including New England championships, players selected to the New England All-Star team each year, and more recently, a number of our girls have gone on to play at the college level at schools such as Quinnipiac University, Williams College, Queens College, Colby College, UMass-Lowell, Merrimack University, Ithaca College, and Trinity College.
New England Champions: 1996, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2008
