4-3
Suffield Girls Varsity Tennis opened our season with a home match versus Mount Saint Charles Academy. The match was as close as it could be and came down to multiple tiebreakers. Suffield secured a 4-3 victory.
In singles, Lexi Legein '27 had a dominant first match at #1. At #2, Stella Lawrence '27 won the first set, lost the second, and then came from behind to win her third set tiebreaker. Zeina and Yasmina Dermesropian, our two freshmen on the team, were tough competitors at #3 and #4 singles. Both were down early and then came back to make the matches much closer before falling to their opponents.
In doubles, it was great to see Orrie Berman '26 back on the court with Phoebe Tucker '26. They had a very close match, narrowly losing their third set tiebreaker. At #2, Mia Capasso '27 and Emma Seigel '26 kept their focus to win in two sets, and at #3, Auggie Gribbel '26 and Sadie Kessler '26 won a tight three-set match.
Both teams exhibited great sportsmanship throughout. We hope the weather holds out for us to head to Pomfret on Saturday for our second match.
