On November 17, the Suffield Academy boys’ varsity soccer team [#1 seed] earned the NEPSAC Class B championship. The victory capped off a remarkable season and postseason filled with determination, skill, and spirit. After earning the top seed following an outstanding season the title run began with a win in the quarterfinals against Rivers School [#8 seed]. This was followed by an exciting semifinal victory over St. George’s School [#4 seed].
On a warm November afternoon, Suffield faced Williston Northampton School [# 6 seed] in the finals. With an outstanding performance, the boys clinched the title with an 8-1 victory. Suffield students, parents, faculty, and alumni added to a great game day atmosphere and watched as every member of the team saw the field. Christophe Gourdeau Coossa ’25, Eddie Grace ’25, Ryan Haines ’25, Bernardo Lujan Lalieu ’25, Keegan Milne ’25, Evan Riccelli ’25, and Ayden Gardner ’25 led the team as seniors and finished the game on the field together before the final whistle. It was a total team effort led by head coach Rick Warren and assistant coaches Alex Clarke ’17, Erik Lee, and Ralston Robinson. The Tigers finished the season with a 16-3-2 record and can proudly add the 2024 season to the championship banner, joining past championship teams in 1983, 1985, 1988, 1989, and 2005.
