Color Wars

Color Wars

On Saturday October 23, Suffields annual Color Wars event took place on Bell Hill. Sales from t-shirts and colored powder for this unique, colorful event are supporting the 2021 student-selected charity, Dove Youth Development. Presented by Hannah Skalski ’22 and Devon Carty ’22, Dove Youth Development is a community of hope and love that engages and inspires Dominican and Haitian children living in poverty to discover new ways of being and living through education.

Pleased with how the event turned out, Hannah said, “We could not be happier with the turnout and participation in the event! We had a great number of students who showed their love for Dove Youth Development and its mission of helping kids in the Dominican Republic receive an education. Student Council sold many items between shirts and powdered paint with all proceeds going to Dove. We are incredibly thankful for all who participated, and we cannot wait for what the rest of the year has to offer!”

Devon agreed, saying, “It was a great turnout and the students all seemed super excited to be involved and contribute to the charity. Color Wars has always been one of the school’s larger fundraising events and it is very helpful with reaching our goal of sponsoring the kids in the Dove Youth Development organization, as well as supplying them with much needed materials. We are off to a great start!”

Class President Giselle Ciriaco ’22 also attended the event and said, “Color Wars was a success! It was nice to see students in all grades coming together and having fun dousing their fellow Tigers with paint, all while raising money for Dove Youth Development.”

Suffield’s second fundraising event of the year will be “All Together Now,” a global event that celebrates live theater. This will take place both on campus and virtually on November 12 and 13. Information about tickets will be coming soon.
