Making Waves to Fight Cancer on Nantucket

On July 23 hundreds of swimmers of all ages and skill levels gathered at Jetties Beach on Nantucket Island for the 10th Annual Swim Across America - Nantucket event. SAA supports cancer treatment and patient care, changing, funding, and evolving cancer care with every donation, with the motto: “Hope has no finish line.”

Suffield Academy Trustee Andrew Kotchen ’90, P’22 and Grace Kotchen ’22 both participated in the event, and Team Kotchen even raised the third highest amount of all the fundraising teams. Andrew said, “Supporting Swim Across America has been a focus of mine for last 10 years on Nantucket. Participating in and supporting this Island event has provided real change for those requiring cancer care.” Grace said, “I swim for my grandfather, William Kotchen ’60, who died of cancer before I was born. I want to be a part of finding a cure for people all over the world, in my happy place, Nantucket.”
