We are pleased to welcome seven new faculty members to Suffield Academy this year.
Cian Beaulieu ’18 is joining our Academic Support Department. Cian is a graduate of University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. He was a member of UConn’s swim team and a star swimmer and water polo player at Suffield. Cian is EMT certified and has worked for both Windsor and East Windsor Ambulance. He will be our head boys’ water polo coach, a swim coach, and a dorm parent in Fuller Hall.
Anna Fahey joins our Languages Department and will teach English as a Second Language (ESL). Anna is a graduate of Kenyon College and earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and French with a creative writing concentration. She most recently worked in Kenyon’s Office for Community Partnerships as an Editor of Publications and Annual Reports. She also has experience as a back country canoe tripping guide based out of Ontario and the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness for 10 to 18-year-olds. Anna will live in our apartment building, be a dorm associate, and work with the SOLO program.
Katharina Fischer joins our History Department. Kat received her Bachelor of Arts in History from William Smith College and her Master of Arts in Teaching from Hobart and William Smith Colleges. She has student teaching field experience and was a counselor at Camp Fernwood for the past two summers in Maine. Kat will live in our apartment building and coach crew and soccer.
Gabriel Lozada Rodriguez is in our Math Department. He received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Connecticut with a minor in Computer Science. He has taught various math courses in the New London Public Schools. Gabe is a talented fencer, and at Suffield he will coach soccer and basketball and be a dorm parent in Hornick.
Pat McDevitt joins our College Counseling Office as an Associate Director. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Gettysburg College and a Master of Arts from Trinity College. Pat will be our head swim team coach. He has coached swimming at Trinity College, Bryn Mawr College, and The Hun School of Princeton. Pat will be a dorm parent in Rockwell Hall, where he will live with his wife (Sarah) and their children (Connor and Lucy).
Jessie Ruffner is joining our Math Department. Jessie received her Bachelor of Mathematical Statistics with a minor in Exercise Sports Science from Smith College where she excelled on their varsity basketball team. She most recently worked as the Game Manager for Smith College Athletics and has experience with live game broadcasting and enhancing the game day atmosphere. She will coach basketball, help with our broadcast journalism efforts, and be a dorm parent in Samii.
Dang Tran joins our Science Department with experience in both physics and chemistry. He received his Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Dang was most recently a chemistry teacher at Fryeburg Academy. He will live on campus at 236 North Main, be a dorm associate, and coach soccer and tennis.
