Suffield parents and alumni gathered for a reception at the Grand InterContinental Hotel Parnas in Seoul, South Korea on November 13, 2024. Head of School Charlie Cahn and Director of Enrollment Management Sean Atkins also attended the event.
The reception was organized by Suffield’s Korean Parents’ Association, very effectively led for the past two years by President Juyoung Lee P’25. Suffield’s Korean Parents’ Association has existed for 21 years.
Juyoung welcomed all the guests and introduced Sean Atkins, who thanked everyone for attending and introduced YK Kim ’09. YK spoke about the profound impact Suffield continues to have on his life and how alumni and parent financial support helps the school succeed. He turned to Charlie Cahn who spoke about Suffield’s long connection to South Korea, projects that have unfolded at the school during the past two decades, and how the steadfast dedication to core values of kindness, respect, leadership, and effort helps Suffield prosper. His update highlighted areas of community life including the academic program, college selections graduates have made during the past three years, and the impact that Suffield’s endowment growth is having on the student experience.
In speaking of the reception and this visit to Seoul, Charlie said, “The immense pride our families exude for Suffield is uplifting to be around. The parents are so pleased their children attend our incredible school and grateful for the inspiration and dedication of our faculty and staff. Our Korean alumni speak vividly of their Suffield years, and of the impact their experiences had on the growth and development.” Charlie also noted that he is particularly grateful to Juyoung Lee for her dedicated leadership of the KPA for the past two years. Next year’s president will be Seonghee Park P’27.
