Many families and friends were at Suffield for the 2023 Parents’ Weekend and Alumni Reunion from October 5 to 8. There was a great sense of spirit and positive energy on campus as an excellent fall term continues to unfold.
Events for parents included meetings with classroom teachers and advisors, a performing arts showcase, athletic contests of all levels, and a state of the school discussion with Charlie Cahn. Many of the over 200 alums from thirteen classes participated in these campus events as well, thrilled to celebrate Reunion weekend and reconnect with the Suffield community. Assistant Director of Development Colin Dowd ’12 said, “Everyone I talked to throughout the weekend was so excited to be back together and amazed with how campus continues to get better and better over the years. The Saturday night dinner was a highlight for many and included honoring the retirement of Dave Godin after forty-three years! We look forward to next year’s Reunion where we will be celebrating classes ending in 4 & 9.”
On the overcast fall Friday of the weekend, over fifty parents, alumni, and friends gathered at Suffield Country Club for a golf outing. It was an 18-hole scramble format with various events including a putting contest, long drive and closest to pin competitions, $1 million shot contest, and the opportunity to win a car for hole in one. As Colin said, “The annual golf outing is a great opportunity for parents and alumni to connect and share a sense of belonging with Suffield Academy.”
We look forward to seeing more alumni at our upcoming events throughout the year!
