50th Night

50th Night

The Class of 2022 celebrated 50th Night with the Suffield faculty on the evening of April 7. One of Suffield’s great traditions, 50th Night serves as a time to reflect on and appreciate the remarkable journeys of each graduating senior as they head into their final weeks before Commencement.

Starting with a group photo of the senior class outside, the evening began with speeches from Max Henderson ’22 and senior class co-advisor Matthew Fava. Mr. Fava encouraged the seniors to finish the academic year strong, highlighting how much the faculty respect and value each class member. Max Henderson spoke about their journeys during their past several years and how fortunate the class is to again be fully in person and experiencing all of Suffield’s valued traditions. After a delicious dinner, the event finished with the singing of Suffield’s alma mater and closing remarks from Head of School Charlie Cahn. Mr. Cahn spoke about Suffield’s core values of hard work, high standards of conduct, and kindness being more important than ever. He commented that, “We have collectively been navigating a very complicated period of time—from a global health pandemic to important and intense social justice issues to a very divisive presidential election and political climate. Navigating this with the ever-present and often pernicious impact of social media makes it even more challenging and intense. So I ask that we refocus ourselves on going out of our way to be kind, inclusive, and encouraging to others. You will be better people if this is a high priority, and we will have a better community.” There will be many upcoming events for the Class of 2022 as they prepare for the May 27 Commencement.
