Sophomore Leadership Program classes partnered with Suffield’s Community Outreach to share sixty delicious meals and personalized valentines with senior citizens in the Suffield community. Director of College Counseling and Leadership Ann Selvitelli noted “This event allowed our students to see how many hands make light work as each sophomore Leadership Program class participated by rolling silverware, making valentines, wrapping gifts, or decorating delivery bags. But the real joy was found during the Saturday deliveries to see the cross-generational interactions and smiles shared.” Sara Welch ’24, a leader for Community Outreach noted, “It was so special to connect with the Suffield residents when I would knock on their door. They were very appreciative of the meal but also engaged in conversation and made it fun.”
Community Outreach is a winter term afternoon program offering where students pursue service opportunities in the local community and beyond.
