Special Olympics/XC Race

Suffield’s cross country program hosted the 6th annual Special Olympics/Suffield Academy XC race on Saturday, September 18. The day was an inspiring tribute to our participating runners and Special Olympics athletes, who ran alongside each other in this celebration of the inclusiveness of sport.

The event included a 5K and 2.5K run on Suffield Academy’s cross country course.

Brynn Bergin ’22, one of the student leaders of the event, said, “It was the perfect day for a race--the cross country team ran the 5K, and then the JV field hockey team joined us to run the 2.5K with two Special Olympics team runners. It was one of the first races to take place since COVID began, so I think it was pretty exciting for them to finally be able to compete again.”
