Suffield’s boys’ alpine ski team completed an undefeated 2021-2022 league race season by winning both legs of the Brigham Ski League Championship: the David Rockwell Giant Slalom and Carl Williams Slalom. This was a fourth straight league championship for the Tigers, led by coaches Hillary Rockwell Cahn ’88 and Colin Dowd ’12. Suffield’s team was deep and talented, and the combined skill distinguished Suffield from others in the league. Consistent top finishers were Jack Fletcher ’22, Declan McNamara ’22, Robby Kurzer ’24, Henry Harding ’24, and Harrison Cahn ’22. Cole Vandevanter ’22, Max Massoni ’24, and Max Sena-Goldschmidt ’24 also made important contributions. Kurzer placed second overall in the giant slalom and McNamara and Fletcher placed first and second respectively in the slalom. It was particularly noteworthy that the Tigers could continue this championship success despite a season-long injury to Ben Warner ’22, one of the program’s top racers. Head Coach Hillary Cahn said, “I am very proud of the team and how they represent Suffield. They work hard, are incredibly supportive of each other, and are excellent athletes and ski racers.” The Tigers will look to build on the program’s consistent success as one of the top racing programs in southern New England during the 2022-2023 season.
