Suffield Academy’s Rachel Carey Spirit Awards are given annually to a junior girl and boy who personify the word spirit. Rachel Carey was a talented scholar-athlete from Rocky Hill, Connecticut who tragically died in an automobile accident in 2003. Rachel exemplified the phrase “It’s not whether you win or lose, it’s how you play the game.” Now in its 23rd year, the awards recognize student-athletes whose commitment to team sports personify the spirit and sportsmanship Rachel exuded. These recipients give everything they have to Suffield athletics and are great teammates. Co-Director of Athletics and Rachel’s faculty advisor Wayne Patterson presented the 2025 Rachel Carey Awards to Anna Jolly ’26 [Chicago, Illinois] and Fischer Stevens ’26 [Suffield, Connecticut]. Congratulations to Anna and Fischer as this year’s recipients.
