Heads of School for the Day

Heads of School for the Day

Instead of heading into his office in Fuller Hall on April 22, Mr. Cahn grabbed his notebook and made his way to Holcomb Hall for class—while three students, Campbell Hudkins ’25, Constantine Georgiopoulos ’26, and Naos Dancanet ’26, stepped into his role, leading the Suffield community as Heads of School for the Day. This opportunity was made possible through last April's Parents’ Association Auction.

For Campbell, Constantine, and Naos, the morning began with a deep dive into school leadership as they met with members of the senior administrative team. Chief Financial Officer Patrick Booth welcomed them in style with new Suffield gear from the school store and handed over the keys to his golf cart. They then joined Director of Enrollment Management Sean Atkins to learn how prospective Tigers find their way to Suffield, gaining valuable insight into the admissions process. In a meeting with Dean of Academics & Faculty Sara Yeager, they explored her role in guiding both the curriculum and the faculty. Later, they met with Ann Selvitelli, Director of College Counseling & Leadership, who shared her passion for two of Suffield Academy’s signature programs.

While the student Heads kept to a packed schedule, Mr. Cahn took on a full course load of his own—attending Physics, 20th Century War, AP Precalculus, European Studies, Spanish IV, Honors Calculus, and English IV. He enjoyed a front-row seat taking meticulous notes and participating in engaging classroom discussions.

The Heads of School left their mark in thoughtful and fun ways. They selected the day’s lunch and dinner menus—chicken taquitos and chimichurri steak—both crowd favorites. They toured the roof of the Ap Seaverns Athletic Center with Co-Director of Athletics Wayne Patterson, met with the Dean of Students Office, and climbed to the top of the Fuller Hall cupola with Director of the Physical Plant Phil Cyr. To share their experience in real-time, Campbell, Constantine, and Naos teamed up with Director of Marketing & Communications Amy Randall for an Instagram takeover, showcasing their enthusiasm throughout the day. To cap it all off, they worked with Director of Development Phil Riegel to plan a surprise ice cream truck on Stiles Lane for all to enjoy.

As the academic day came to a close, they regrouped with Mr. Cahn, sharing their thoughtful reflections on their experiences at the realm.
