Selfless Acts of Service

Selfless Acts of Service

At a festive December 19, 2025 holiday dinner organized to thank Suffield Academy’s faculty and staff, Head of School Charlie Cahn recognized three long-serving community members—Janet Mish, Jerry Moore, and Dave Kasanowski—with gifts from the Carol Booth Endowment Fund.

Established in 2018 in memory of Carol Booth, the fund celebrates the quiet, selfless acts of service that define the very best of Suffield. Charlie reflected on Carol’s boundless generosity and deep love for the school, noting how she threw herself wholeheartedly into campus life—teaching students to drive, volunteering with the yearbook, teaching religious education, transporting students to services, chaperoning the annual softball spring training trip, and even driving alumni home after reunions. She cared deeply for Patrick Booth’s advisees and for every Suffield student, giving freely and never seeking recognition.

In that same spirit, this year’s honorees embody remarkable dedication and represent 106 years of service to Suffield Academy. Janet, Jerry, and Dave have helped organize graduations for more than 4,000 students, been on call for over 5,000 days, and—most notably—responded without hesitation to every campus emergency since 1986. Their recognition was met with a rousing standing ovation during a memorable evening on campus.
