The Year of the Fire Horse

The Year of the Fire Horse

Suffield Academy students recently celebrated the Lunar New Year, welcoming the arrival of spring and the Year of the Fire Horse with a vibrant and festive gathering. Dayeon Lee ’28 shared “Even though I’m far away from home, the Lunar New Year dinner was a special moment where I could share my culture with friends and celebrate like a family—it made me feel like I was home again.” The event highlighted the rich traditions and cultural significance of the holiday, offering students the chance to come together over a delicious meal while honoring the values of family and friendship. It was a special and memorable evening for all who attended.

Lunar New Year is an important tradition for our Asian American and Pacific Islander [AAPI] students that symbolizes renewal, family, and togetherness. The dinner offered a festive gathering where students enjoyed a delicious meal, connected with peers, and embraced the traditions that make this holiday meaningful.
