A Day at Trinity College

A Day at Trinity College

As part of Suffield Academy’s four-year college counseling program, members of the Class of 2027 recently visited Trinity College. The 11th-grade College 101 curriculum introduces students to self-reflection, college fit, self-advocacy, researching colleges, and planning campus visits. It is taught during the winter term in weekly Leadership Program classes,

On February 12, Suffield juniors toured Trinity, met with members of the admission office, and participated in a mock admission committee. Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid Matt Hyde spoke with students about developing the right college mindset and offered insight into how his office reviews applications. Students examined a case study as part of a mock application review, gaining a firsthand look at how admission files are evaluated.

A highlight of the visit was a student panel featuring Suffield alumni currently attending Trinity — Christian Williams Jones ’22, Finn Donelan ’22, Emily Killoran ’23, Miles Clay ’24, and Kayla Barthel ’25 — who shared their experiences transitioning from Suffield to college life and how their college journeys have unfolded.

Suffield’s distinctive college counseling program is thoughtfully designed to prepare students for every stage of the college journey with confidence and clarity. The visit to Trinity was a highlight for members of the Class of 2027 as they are in the midst of crafting their own unique college lists.
