Rick Warren

Rick joined Suffield’s Department of Mathematics in 2008 and heads the boys’ varsity soccer program. Prior to arriving at the Academy, he was the assistant men’s soccer coach at Kenyon College and holds the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Premier Diploma and a USSF Coaching License. He is a graduate of Mount Vernon Nazarene University and earned his MBA from Ohio Dominican University. Rick is a native of Jamaica who played for his country at the youth level.

Where were you born?
Kingston, Jamaica.

What do you love about where you are from?
Being able to go to the beach whenever I wanted and hanging out with my family.

What do you love about where you live now?
I love living in the back of campus close to Muddy Brook because my boys love fishing there. 

Who do you live on campus with?
My wife Liz and our four boys Nicholas, Caleb, William, and Preston, and our dog Milo.

Which of your roles at Suffield Academy do you relish the most?
This is a hard question to answer because I like all my roles at Suffield Academy. I would say the roles I like the most are teaching and coaching. 

What is your favorite song of all time?
“Three Little Birds” by Bob Marley.

If you could have dinner with one person, alive or dead, who would you dine with?
Pele the greatest soccer player of all time 🙂 

If you could ask anyone for advice, who would you ask?
My dad Geman Warren, because he was the most relaxed and he always helped a lot of people when they needed it. He was such a good man and I miss talking to him every day.

What is your favorite movie?
Moana and all my friends know why this movie is my favorite.

What is your favorite food?
Jamaican Jerk Pork and Jerk Chicken.
