On the evening of April 4, the class of 2023 came together along with faculty to celebrate 50th Night. One of Suffield’s great traditions, 50th Night marks the last 50 nights until commencement and serves as a time to reflect on and appreciate the seniors’ remaining time at Suffield.
The celebration began with the traditional senior class photo on Brewster steps and then the seniors proceeded to hear from their classmate, Mia Rubenstein. Mia’s speech focused on the realities of senior spring, and She commented on the importance of making the best of the last 50 days at Suffield. In her comments, Mia noted “50 days is enough time to talk to someone you haven’t yet. To make amends with someone you may have tension with. To spend time with your closest friends and your classmates you have yet to get to know” and further encouraged her classmates to truly make the most of their Suffield experiences. The seniors also heard from Director of College Counseling and senior class advisor, Mrs. Selvitelli. Mrs. Selvitelli read aloud the book “Go Get Em’ Tiger” by Sabrina Moyle to encourage the seniors to keep their ‘Tiger Spirit’ as they head off to college.
Finally, Mr. Cahn delivered remarks about the importance of community and appreciation for the last 50 nights of high school. The seniors have many events to look forward to, as Baccalaureate and Commencement approach at the end of May.
