Legendary Suffield Academy faculty member Andy Lowe passed away April 25, 2023 after a valiant battle with cancer. Mr. Lowe was an incredible educator and inspiration for students, alums, parents, and colleagues during his remarkable career. He was a brilliant, kind, talented man and a loving husband and father.

Mr. Lowe was fiercely proud of Suffield Academy and particularly the swim program he built into one of the finest in the nation. Suffield’s swimming pool is named in his honor, as is a classroom in Centurion Hall. Mr. Lowe earned all of Suffield’s highest honors as a teacher and coach including the Richter Award for Excellence in Teaching, the Benjamin Prize for contributions to student development, and the Pervear-Kinne Coaching Prize. Mr. Lowe’s impact on our school and on the thousands who knew him was profound.

His wife, Andrea, and children Graham ’11, Geoff ’13, and Emily Lowe ’15 hosted a celebration of his life on Bell Hill on Saturday, May 6. The service was attending by hundreds of guests, many of whom travelled great distances to honor his life, a fitting tribute to his exemplary life.
