Tiger Swimmers Compete at US Nationals
Cameron Auchinachie ’17, Max Miranda ’18, Sydney Winters ’19, and Erin Jachym ’21 participated in the Phillips 66 Long Course National Swimming Championships, hosted by Stanford University on July 31—August 4. Auchinachie scored points in the 50 and 100-meter freestyle, while also racing successfully in the 200-meter freestyle and relays, representing Denver University’s USA Swimming Team. Miranda took on the longer events, racing in the 200-meter butterfly, 200 and 400-meter freestyle, and 400-meter individual medley. A testament to his versatility, Miranda swam breaststroke for Irish Aquatics’ 400-meter medley relay team. Jachym and Winters competed on relays, representing ABF Bluefish, headed by former Suffield star and national team coach Chuck Batchelor ’87. The girls stay at Stanford to compete in the Junior Nationals (elite 18 and under swimmers), where Jachym will swim in the 400, 800, and 1500-meter freestyle events, while Winters races in the 50-meter freestyle, 100-meter breaststroke, 100-meter backstroke, and 200-meter individual medley. Winters joins Miranda at Notre Dame for the upcoming school year.
