Drew graduated from Brookline High School in the Boston area and completed a postgraduate year here at Suffield in 1993. He played football, basketball, and lacrosse during his postgraduate year, and helped the football and basketball teams win New England Championships. He then moved on to Ohio Wesleyan University where he earned his bachelor’s degree while playing both football and basketball. Drew earned all-conference recognition in football and was the team captain during his senior season. After graduation, Drew spent four years coaching football at the collegiate level at Ohio Wesleyan University and Harvard University. He then returned to education and worked as a counselor and coach at Brookline High School.
Drew has been a member of Suffield’s faculty since 2006. He is currently the school’s co-director of athletics, a teacher in the Leadership program, and the head varsity football coach.
Wayne Patterson
Co-Director of Athletics, Standardized Testing Coordinator
Wayne was born in Waterford, Connecticut and earned his bachelor’s at Assumption College. He then worked for 10 years at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as a research specialist, and three years in Suffield’s Office of Admissions. He now serves as the Co-Director of Athletics and is the standardized testing coordinator for the Academy. Coaching is Wayne’s passion. The Tigers qualified for the New England Tournament in eight of his 10 years as coach of the girls’ varsity basketball team, winning the New England Championship in 2008. Wayne also coached the varsity softball team from 2003 to 2009, winning the Western New England Championships in 2003, 2006, and 2007 (undefeated in 2006 and 2007). Wayne and his wife Kelly ’82 have been married for 29 years. Kelly is the Director of Suffield’s Child Care Center. Their son Jack ’13 is a graduate ofBryant University and was recently drafted by the Chicago Cubs.
