Tigers fall at Marianapolis...

On what turned out to a scorching day in Thompson CT, the Lady Tigers put on a solid effort for their first game of the year. Both teams played evenly for the 1st 20 minutes before Suffield began to raise the pressure. In the 21st minute, Lilly Rotter gathered a loose ball outside the 18 and fired a bending shot that ended up in the upper right hand corner to put Suffield on the board first. 4 minutes later, Sabrina Louro received a through ball and dribbled past the defender and slid the ball past the goalkeeper to extend the lead to 2-0. A much needed break for halftime allowed the girls to regroup and refresh. This game was a tale of two halves as Marianapolis came out of the break with renewed focus and drive. They score in the first 4 minutes of the half, and added another once shortly after. As Suffield tried to retake the lead, Marianapolis took advantage of some gaps in the field and extended the lead. Overall the girls played well and will continue to improve as the season plays out and they become more comfortable with each other and each other's play style. Maya Grant played very well in goal, making 7 saves, including a penalty shot early in the second half. Next up is our first home game vs. Taft 3rds on Wednesday at 2:30.
