Tigers race at Worcester...
The Boys Cross Country team started out the season against some of our stiffest competition, NMH (Division I Champions), Williston, and Worcester Academy. Suffield ran strong today and used some impressive pack running to place very close to Williston and ahead of Worcester. NMH won the meet easily with their top seven all in the top ten. Williston had three in the top ten and it looked like it was going to be an easy second place for them when Ethan Ash '20, Nick Briones '20, Sam Ingalls '20, Bobby Flynn '19, Dominic Colangelo '19, and Shane Donahue '19 all powered in ahead of Williston's fourth man. This put us very close to Williston and allowed us a solid win against Worcester. Captain Michael Robidoux '18 closed up the varsity top seven with Stanley Huang '20 close behind. The team showed it had real depth today.
New to the team this week, Jim Hou '21 showed he is going to be a force with a solid 23:42 first 5 km race. Captain John Killam '18 managed to take three minutes off his time from last week on a difficult course today. Jake Selbst '18, ran exceptionally well considering a fall very early in the race. Vaughn Rogers '19 continued his good form, keeping his time consistent. Eli Li '21, another newcomer this week, ran his first race in 27:33. Mike Stern '18 led the final pack out of the woods, including Kush Shah '19, James Woolley '20, who took a minute off his time from last week, Daniel Ennis '21, and Nick Sevitelli '20 who ran very well despite recurring heel pain.
