Nice win for the Tigers...
On an unseasonably warm day for October, the girls hosted Loomis, looking to get back into the win column. There was some even play early on, but Suffield soon began to take control of the tempo. in the 9th minute, Emma Winiarski crossed the ball in from the left to a waiting Becca Matalon who volleyed the ball into the net to give the girls the early advantage. 8 minutes later, Matalon returned the favor, sending the ball into the middle, where Winiarski took a couple of touches and put the ball in the lower left corner. Suffield kept the pressure on and with 4:30 left on the clock, the girls earned a corner. Winiarski sent the ball into the box where Sabrina Louro deftly passed it back to a waiting Tayla Ziadie who found the open half of the net. A quick break for half time and the girls were back on the pitch. Emma Winiarski added to her point total as she scored a nice goal in the left hand side of the net from the top of the 18' after making a little room for herself in the 10 minute of the 2nd half. 1 minute later, Lilly Rotter found herself streaking down the right center of the field and took a strong shot which the goalie made a great save on. Unable to gather the rebound, Lilly got a good foot on the rebound and pounded it into the net to push the lead to 5-0. The rest of the game remained scoreless as the defense remained strong. Maya Grant finished with 3 saves in the game as she registered the clean sheet (shutout). Next up is a busy week with 3 games in 4 days, starting with a game at Choate in Wallingford at 3:00 PM.
