Tiger travel to Choate and get a win...
On a gray, damp, and warm day, the girls traveled to Wallingford, CT to take on a determined crew from Choate. The game started slowly for both teams as they were getting a sense of what the other could do. After roughly 5 minutes, the Tigers began to flex their muscles and took over the flow and tempo of the game. In roughly the 14th minute, Emma Winiarski gathered the ball at the top left of the box, carried to her right and shot with her off foot to put the girls up 1-0. More solid play for the remaining 20 minutes continued, but the Choate goalie was up to the task. In the second half, the score was extended as Lilly Rotter found the back of the net off a rebound from an initial shot by Tayla Ziadie. Sabrina Louro scored to push the lead to 3 as she continued to crash the net and take advantage of any loose balls. The final tally was made by Tayla as she took control of the ball near midfield, dribbled forward and served the ball into the box...but it ended up being more of a shot, resulting in the final goal of the day. Solid play by all extended our success and added another mark in the win column. The clean sheet was earned by Abby Fort as she excitedly volunteered to step into goal for the ailing Maya Grant who was not feeling up for the game. She recorded 3 saves and made a few nice punts to get the ball back in play. Next up is the second leg of our home and home series with Westminster on Friday in Simsbury. The ball gets rolling at 4:30 on the eve of their Parent's Weekend.
