FC Tiger B finishes off season with a win...
Suffield Academy’s indispensable ‘FC’ Tiger B ended their season in most glorious fashion with a 2-1 win, its second in a row, against a boisterous Taft team.
Suffield was met by a Taft team that was both loud and physical. The game saw its first yellow card of the season and numerous fouls. Andrew Dzhendzheruha, Henry Lee, Arnold Chung, Minh Nguyen, Connor Donovan, and Kao Kitchokul were rock solid on defense. Shinichiro Sato made his long awaited return to the playing field and made some excellent stops on defense and runs up the right flank. Justin Hern played a fantastic first half in goal without conceding. In the Midfield, Teddy Taylor, John Zhang, Partho Karak, Cam Parrow, Ivan Belyaevsky, and Jaid Dunn, controlled the game and helped pin Taft in their half of the field. Tim Cordes played one of his best games, physically challenging opposing players in both the midfield and on offense. Luke Bonini followed up his fantastic performance as young Hamlet with a dagger to the hearts of Taft, volleying in a goal to end the first half. Midway through the second half Taft scored on a penalty and pressured the ball well, but Suffield again rose their level. Michael Greco played a fantastic second half in goal and helped to direct our attack with his punts. Near the end of the game, the ball fell at the feet of star player Quinn Matthew, who calmly scored the game winning goal with a shot to the far-side of the net. Peter Jiang, arguably the team’s most improved player this season had a chance to nearly put Suffield up 3-1 but will have to wait for next year to get his first goal.
Coach Vianney and I couldn’t be prouder of the season the boys had. The team’s handwork and improvement over the course of the fall was inspirational. In the end, Suffield’s 4ths soccer went undefeated in its last 3 games.
