Volleyball falls short to Cheshire...
The Suffield Academy Volleyball team entered the first round of the NEPSAC tournament seeded seventh, drawing Cheshire as their opponent, and meeting for the third time this season. Having played Cheshire to a five-set, 16-14 loss at the end of the regular season, Suffield Academy was poised for a win at Cheshire.
Suffield started strong winning the first set 25-23 behind the strong play of Susannah Johnson (2 aces and 6 kills on 6 swings).
Cheshire began the second set with good net play and serving. Down 18-12, Suffield battled back falling just short 22-25.
Suffield dropped the last two sets 14-25 and 15-25 to end the match and their season.
Paityn Bergstol finished the match with 12 assists, 2 kills and 2 aces. Susannah Johnson: 10 kills and 4 aces.
Suffield Academy Volleyball says a heartfelt goodbye to seniors captains Sarah Swanson, Ramona Fontaine and Susannah Johnson. Their leadership and dedication to the program over the past four years has been greatly appreciated. We also want to thank all of the parents who supported us this season.
And last, but in no way least, we want to thank those players who did not get the opportunity to start, yet threw themselves into practices and showed enthusiastic support during our matches. We appreciate your effort during practices to improve your game and thus the game of our starting players.
