Outstanding performances by SA Divers...
It was quite an evening in the pool tonight as athletes from Suffield, Choate, Williston, Wilbraham and Monson, and Christian Heritage School convened to dive in an 11-dive, championship-style diving meet.
In the girl's field of 10 divers, senior captain Carlin Molander took 2nd with a 397.6, with freshman Emma Krasemann close behind her in third with a 390.1. These scores were not only good enough to help them finish in the top 3, but also good enough to crush the 11-dive school record, previously 359.45. Sophomore Grace Reeves had a strong showing, finishing in 7th with a 237.7, and Anna Wilcox, in her first ever 11-dive meet, earned an impressive 232.8, good enough for 8th place.
Not to be outdone by the girls, the boy's event was equally exciting as 4 of the 7 competing athletes also broke records. Choate's Kobe Tray, 2-time New England Class A champion, once again topped the field, this time earning a 540.25 - his first time over 500 - and setting a new SA pool record. Suffield's own Charlie Tilney Volk '19 came in second with a 486.05. Close on his heels in third was sophomore Alec Wright with a 474.8, and senior captain Kevin Kuzmeski earned 5th place with an impressive 405.4. All three of these scores broke the previous 11-dive school record of 398.35, with Tilney-Volk's score eclipsing the record by nearly 90 points - a truly impressive feat.
Special thanks go out to Andy Lowe, Wayne Patterson, Allison Henle and everyone who came out and supported the SA divers on this historic evening.
