Members from the town of Suffield gathered at Suffield High School for the inaugural community event “Suffield Sings” on February 11. The choral festival included singing groups from Suffield Middle School, Suffield High School, Sacred Heart Church, Second Baptist Church, First Congregational Church, and Suffield Academy. The purpose of the event was to bring together members of the town while highlighting each group's specific aesthetic.
Suffield Academy performed two pieces. The combined vocal groups of Chamber Singers, Women's Choir and AVTS sang "Wanting Memories" by Ysaye M. Barnwell and AVTS performed a selection from the recent motion picture, The Greatest Showman. The concert concluded with all the groups coming together to sing two, breathtaking and emotional pieces: "Things That Never Die" by Lee Dengler and "My Song" by Eriks Esenvalds.
Suffield Academy’s vocal director Chelsea Kane ’09 commented, “It was a fun and rewarding afternoon and provided an exciting opportunity for Academy students to contribute outside in the community and make an impact through their talents.”
