Hal Elrod at Suffield Academy
On January 14, 2013, Hal Elrod spoke to the Suffield Academy community about his remarkable story of survival and resilience. At the age of 20, Hal was hit head on by a drunk driver and pronounced dead-at-the-scene. He regained a pulse after six minutes and was in a coma for just six days, defying doctors' prognoses. He sustained 13 broken bones and brain damage and was told he may never walk again. His recovery is nothing short of a miracle.
Hal's message to students, the “ABC's of Taking Life Head On,” is as follows:A

e grateful for everything.C
reate consistent progress towards the life of your dreams.
Hal has gone on to become a bestselling author, a success coach, and an ultra-marathon runner (52 consecutive miles). He is the author of two books, Taking Life Head On
