Phil graduated from Suffield Academy in 1987 and is now the director of development. Phil holds bachelor’s degrees in Russian language and literature and Russian history from Syracuse University as well as a certificate of area studies from Leningrad State University.
After graduating from college, Phil moved to Tblisi, Georgia, in the former Soviet Union, to work for an American/Georgian joint venture. Upon leaving Georgia, Phil was employed by Lowara S.p.A. in Vicenza, Italy, and was responsible for the territory of the former Soviet Union. The years just before returning to Suffield were spent taking classes toward a Master of Business Administration degree at Pennsylvania State University while working in State College, Pa.
Phil lives on campus with his wife, Elise Adib-Samii Riegel (also a graduate of the class of 1987 and the current academic dean at Suffield), and their children, Vivian and Charlie.
Beth came to Suffield in February of 1999 as the Academy's registrar. She has wide experience in the areas of human resources and office administration in small corporate and banking institutions. She holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from New England College and is pursuing her master's in business administration from the University of Hartford. Beth is starting her third year in the Development Office, where she is beginning a new role as Associate Director of Development.
Beth and her husband, Byron, live in Suffield with their two sons, Daniel '12, and Ben '16. When time allows, the Baileys can be found in Maine and Vermont, where outdoor activities are a family passion.
Betsy joined the development team in August 2004. Her two sons, Jake ’04 and Luke ’06, are graduates of Suffield.
Betsy graduated from the University of Connecticut with a B.S. in Education. Prior to being a full-time mother, Betsy was a Senior Systems Designer at CIGNA for 11 years. She and her husband Charlie live in Bloomfield.
Diana David works in the Alumni and Development Office as the Academy’s Stewardship Coordinator. She has been married for 25 years and has two children, Karly and Keith, both of whom graduated from Suffield Academy.
Diana graduated from college with a B.S.E. in elementary education. She owned and operated a preschool for 15 years. After her children headed off for college, Diana decided it was time for a change and a full time job. And so she arrived in the Development Office.
Penn Sullivan joined the Development office as coordinator of the Parents' Association Auction. Penn lives in West Simsbury with her husband and three teenaged sons. Before coming to the Academy, Penn worked at The Simsbury Chamber of Commerce as a membership and event coordinator.
