A native of West Hartford, Connecticut, Jonathan worked at both boarding and day schools prior to coming to Suffield in 2004. He has been a teacher, coach, athletic director, and dorm parent. Jonathan graduated from Trinity College in Hartford, was a four-year letterman on the lacrosse team, and also earned a master’s degree in American Studies. Prior to Trinity, he attended Middlesex School in Concord, Massachusetts, and Renbrook School in West Hartford. Jonathan lives in West Hartford with his wife Allison, daughter Hadley, and son Oliver.
Aside from teaching and coaching, Jonathan’s passions include playing golf, watching his children play sports, going to the beach, spending time with family, and dreaming of a return of his beloved Hartford Whalers. He also enjoys trips to Maine during the summer and visiting family in Kentucky. Jonathan teaches math and coaches girls’ junior varsity soccer and boys’ junior varsity squash.
Rachel is a member of Suffield’s Department of English. She is a graduate of Williston Northampton and the Commonwealth Honors College at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. At UMass, Rachel received a Bachelor of Arts in English with a specialization in the study and practice of writing as well as a minor in Education. Throughout college she worked as a tutor at the UMass Writing Center where she helped undergraduate and graduate students develop productive writing practices. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Liberal Studies at Wesleyan University with a concentration in Humanities and certificates in Writing and Educational Leadership.
In addition to teaching English at Suffield, Rachel is a soccer and tennis coach. Rachel lives on campus in Tompkins where she is dorm head.
